Trump slams Biden’s border policies Biden reminded the audience of family separation.
Joe Biden and Donald Trump went back for forth over the southern border, an issue that a poll found to be voters’ top concern in advance of November. This is, of course, one of Trump’s primary talking points allowing him to slam Biden policies and counter as only he can that it ended up being the ‘most secure border in the history of our country’ under his administration.
Sure enough, Biden whacked Trump for torpedoing the bipartisan border agreement and even noted that Border Patrol union endorsed the bill. In addition, he attacked his rival for “tearing babies from their mothers”. Biden aides have long expected this moment, for a variety of reasons and the president announced his action as bait to try to force Trump into protecting 550,000 undocumented family members in U.S. citizens from deportation.
In early June, Biden tacked right on a problem that has dogged his administration for as long as it’s existed – asylum at ports of entry. A day before the debate, meanwhile, the White House allowed itself a little triumphalism: A 40% fall in border crossings under Biden’s crackdown was duly noted.
